Korea National Open University (KNOU, President Jongoh Kim) hosted an academic exchange meeting with a delegation from Universitas Terbuka (UT), Indonesia, on April 27, 2026, at its headquarters to discuss the advancement of distance education between the two institutions.
The visit was initiated to formalize digital education transformation and exchange cooperation based on the long-standing friendly relationship between the two universities.
The meeting was attended by key officials from Universitas Terbuka, including Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Muktiyanto, Studio Manager Aditya Rahman, and Business Research Director Halim Dedy Perdana. From KNOU, President Jongoh Kim, the Dean of the Office of International Affairs, the Director of the Digital Media Center (DMC), and the Head of the International Cooperation Team were present to welcome the delegation.
During the meeting, both sides discussed key cooperation measures for qualitative improvement of distance education and international solidarity as follows:
▶ Faculty and Student Exchange Programs: Pursuing independent cooperation programs between the two universities in addition to the AAOU (Asian Association of Open Universities) Staff Exchange Program.
▶ Activation of Joint Research: Conducting joint research, particularly in the field of learning analytics.
▶ Sharing Digital Transformation Know-how: Transferring KNOU’s excellent content production technology and operational systems.
In particular, Rector Ali Muktiyanto of Universitas Terbuka expressed deep interest in KNOU's innovative digital education environment. Following his request for sharing content production expertise and staff training for UT's digital transformation, a short-term intensive training program (Thursday, April 30) was provided for UT staff.
President Jongoh Kim of KNOU stated, "The visit of the Universitas Terbuka delegation has further solidified the trust between our two institutions." He added, "We will continue to engage in exchanges to promote Korea's excellent distance education system to the world and lead the global education network."
